スイスアカデミー生徒、Arataさんの「2025/6/1-10 ヨーロッパ旅行記」

1日目 羽田→ヒースロー（ロンドン）

ロンドン・ヒースロー空港へは羽田からJALで向かいました。A350（新型機）に乗りたかったからです。

A350のフライトは素晴らしいもので、大変おすすめです。

ヒースロー空港に到着。入国審査の説明の英語は易しく書かれており、英検2級レベルの英語力があれば対応可能でした。

入国審査後、ホテルまでの道中で、賭博店を多数見かけました。ギャンブル依存症はイギリスでも社会問題となっているようです。

ここで注意点をひとつ。ヨーロッパのほとんどの国では、Yahoo（検索エンジンサイト）が使用できませんでした。旅行される方はご注意ください。

Day 1:Haneda → Heathrow (London)

I flew to London Heathrow Airport from Haneda on JAL, choosing this flight because I wanted to experience the A350 (a new model aircraft).

The A350 flight was excellent and highly recommended.

Upon arrival at Heathrow, I found the English explanations at immigration to be simple and manageable with an Eiken Grade 2 level.

On the way to the hotel, I saw many betting shops, indicating that gambling addiction is also a social issue in the UK.

One important note: In most European countries, the Yahoo search engine does not work. Please be aware of this when traveling.

2日目 市内ツアー→クイーンツアー

午前中のハイライトは、何といっても衛兵交代式の見学でした。

バッキンガム宮殿からセント・ジェームス宮殿まで、赤い制服に黒いベアスキンハットをかぶった近衛兵たちが行進しながら交代する儀式です。

午後からはプライベートのクイーンツアーに参加。

ボーカルのフレディ・マーキュリーの自宅「ガーデン・ロッジ」を訪問し、さらにギタリストのブライアン・メイの母校インペリアル・カレッジへも行きました。

ここは世界でトップクラスの理数系大学で、クイーンも大学ホールで演奏したことがあります。

訪問日はちょうど卒業式の日で、式後は大学に併設されたパブで生徒たちが楽しそうに過ごしていました。

インペリアル大学の向かいには王立音楽大学があり、さすが「王立」という威厳のある雰囲気でした。

Day 2:City Tour → Queen Tour

The highlight of the morning was definitely watching the Changing of the Guard.

Guards in red uniforms and black bearskin hats marched from Buckingham Palace to St. James’s Palace in a ceremonial exchange.

In the afternoon, I joined a private Queen Tour.

We visited the former home of lead singer Freddie Mercury, called Garden Lodge, and also Imperial College, the alma mater of guitarist Brian May.

Imperial College is one of the top science and engineering universities in the world, and Queen once performed in its university hall.

Coincidentally, it was graduation day, and students were joyfully gathering in the university pub afterward.

Across the street was the Royal College of Music, which had a truly dignified atmosphere worthy of the name “Royal.”

3日目 ビートルズツアー トライデント・スタジオ

午前中はプライベートのビートルズツアーに参加。

有名な横断歩道で写真撮影を行い、その後公式ショップでお土産を購入。

（他の観光客のポージングを見るだけでも楽しかったです）

次に「アビーロード・スタジオ」を訪問。

ここでビートルズの「Hey Jude」やクイーンの「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」が録音されました。

特に「ガリレオ～」の部分の多重録音は高い技術が必要で、当時それが可能だったのはこのスタジオだけだったそうです。

その後、スーツの語源となった「サヴィル・ロウ通り」を通過して解散。

イギリス名物のフィッシュ＆チップスを食べてホテルへ戻りました。

Day 3:The Beatles Tour Abbey Road Studios to Trident Studio

In the morning, I joined a private Beatles Tour.

I took photos at the famous Abbey Road crosswalk, and then bought souvenirs at the official shop.

(Just watching other tourists pose was already fun!)

Next, I visited Abbey Road Studios, where songs like the Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” were recorded.

The layered vocals in the “Galileo” part of Bohemian Rhapsody required advanced recording technology, which was only available at this studio at the time.

Afterward, we passed Savile Row, the origin of the word “suit,” and the tour ended.

I had classic British fish and chips and returned to the hotel.

4日目 ウェンブリー・スタジアム→ジュネーブへ

スイスへ向かう前に、サッカーの聖地と呼ばれる「ウェンブリー・スタジアム」を訪れました。ここではサッカーだけでなく、ラグビーの試合や有名アーティストのコンサートも開催されます。

特に、クイーンも出演した20世紀最大のチャリティーコンサート「LIVE AID」の会場として有名です。

見学後は、ヒースロー空港からスイス・エアラインでジュネーブへ移動。

先生からの「スイス・エアに乗る」という宿題もここで達成できました！

スイスやドイツでは、路面電車（トラム）が非常に発達していますが、山岳地帯と市街地では架線（電線）と燃料を切り替えて走ることができるのが非常に興味深かったです。

Day 4:Wembley Stadium → Geneva

Before heading to Switzerland, I visited Wembley Stadium, known as the holy ground of soccer.

Besides soccer, it also hosts rugby matches and concerts by major artists.

It’s especially famous as the venue for “LIVE AID,” one of the biggest charity concerts of the 20th century, which Queen also performed at.

After the tour, I flew to Geneva via SWISS International AirLines from Heathrow.

This fulfilled the “homework” given by my teacher to “ride SWISS Air.”

In both Switzerland and Germany, trams are highly developed, and I was impressed that they can switch between overhead wires and fuel, depending on whether they’re in the mountains or city.

6月5日（5日目）ジュネーブ市内観光

国際連合関連の施設が多数あるジュネーブは、ドイツ語・英語・フランス語のいずれでも通じる国際都市です。

市内バスツアーでは、日本語音声のガイドブックが用意されており驚きました。

残念ながら、国連施設の見学ツアーは予約が満席で参加できませんでしたが、ジュネーブ市内のバスツアーに参加し、「壊れた椅子」のモニュメントを見ました。これは地雷や爆弾への反対を訴える彫刻です。

その後、ジュネーブ駅からチューリッヒへ移動しました。

June 5 (Day 5):Geneva City Tour

Geneva, home to many UN-related facilities, is an international city where German, English, and French are widely understood.

I was surprised that the city bus tour provided Japanese audio guides.

Unfortunately, the UN facility tour was fully booked, so I couldn’t join. However, I did take a city bus tour and visited the “Broken Chair” monument, which symbolizes protest against landmines and bombs.

Later, I took a train from Geneva to Zurich.

6月6日（6日目）ハイキングと湖クルーズ

午前中はユートリベルクという小高い山へハイキングに行きました。
頂上からはアルプスの山々をご覧いただけます。
約2時間の道中では、太陽系の縮小モデルに沿って進みました。
途中、酪農牛にも出会うことができ、まさに「これぞスイスの田園風景」といった雰囲気を楽しめます。

午後はチューリッヒ湖のクルーズツアーに参加。
湖の先はリンツ川へとつながっており、川沿いにはチョコレートメーカー「リンツ」の工場がございます。

チューリッヒ中央駅前には「バーンホフ通り」というメインストリートがあり、スイス唯一の百貨店が建っています。その近くには、偉大な教育家ペスタロッチの銅像もありました。

ツアー後の夕食では、スイス・ドイツの家庭料理「ロスティ」をいただきました。

じゃがいもを細切りにして塩で軽く味付けし、フライパンで焼いたパンケーキのような料理で、以前、先生が授業中に話されていたのを思い出して、紹介されたレストランへ直行しました。

June 6 (Day 6):Hiking & Lake Cruise

In the morning, we went hiking on Uetliberg, a small mountain.
From the summit, you can enjoy a view of the Alps.
During the roughly two-hour hike, we followed a scaled-down model of the solar system.
We also came across some dairy cows, allowing us to truly enjoy the atmosphere of the Swiss countryside.In front of Zurich Central Station is Bahnhofstrasse, the city’s main street, where Switzerland’s only department store stands.

In the afternoon, we joined a cruise tour on Lake Zurich.
The lake flows into the Linz River, along which you’ll find the factory of the famous chocolate maker Lindt.

Nearby was a statue of Pestalozzi, the great Swiss educator.

For dinner after the tour, I tried a Swiss-German home-style dish called Rösti.

It’s made by shredding potatoes, lightly salting them, and frying them like a pancake.

I remembered my teacher had talked about this during class, so I went straight to the recommended restaurant.

6月7日（7日目）ライン滝→フランクフルト（ICE）

午前中はバスツアーでヨーロッパ最大の滝「ライン滝」へ。スイスとドイツの国境にあります。

遊覧船に3回乗って、違う角度から滝の間近に迫りました。

ガイドからは「写真撮影は1人ずつ慎重に」と注意がありましたが、半数以上がマナーを守らず（笑）

興奮しすぎてバスの出発時間に遅れる人が多く、ガイドが何度も「時間厳守」のアナウンスをしていたのが印象的でした。

チューリッヒ駅前の「スイス国立博物館」にも立ち寄り、「ワールドプレス展」が開催されていて、トランプ元大統領が暗殺未遂された際の写真も展示されていました。

いよいよICEでフランクフルトへ。

チューリッヒ駅は、まさに“世界の車窓から”に出てきそうな絵になる駅でした。

ICEでどうしてもやりたかったのは「食堂車での食事」。

日本ではほぼ絶滅した食堂車なので貴重な体験です。

今回は厨房の一部が故障していてインスタントメニューでしたが、それでも満足でした。

この日はスイスからドイツへの国境越えをICEとバスで体験しましたが、パスポートチェックは一切ありませんでした。

約4時間でフランクフルトに到着。すぐにホテルへ。

June 7 (Day 7):Rhine Falls → Frankfurt (ICE)

In the morning, I joined a bus tour to Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe, located on the Swiss-German border.

I took three boat rides to get up close from different angles.

The guide warned us, “Please take turns carefully when taking photos,” but more than half of the group ignored this (haha).

Many people got too excited and delayed the bus departure, so the guide repeatedly stressed the importance of being on time—that left a strong impression.

Before heading to Germany, I also visited the Swiss National Museum near Zurich Station, where the World Press Photo Exhibition was being held.

It included photos of the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Then I boarded the ICE (InterCity Express) to Frankfurt.

Zurich Station looked just like something out of “World’s Train Views.”

What I really wanted to do on the ICE was eat in the dining car.

Since dining cars are nearly extinct in Japan, it was a rare experience.

Though the kitchen was partially out of order and I only had instant meals, it was still satisfying.

I crossed the Swiss-German border by both ICE and bus, but there was no passport check at all.

After about 4 hours, I arrived in Frankfurt and headed straight to the hotel.

6月8日（8日目）フランクフルト市内ウォーキング→空港へ

最後に宿泊したホテル「ザ・フランクフルト」は4つ星にもかかわらず、1泊2万円以内。

中央駅から徒歩2分という好立地ですが、なぜかリーズナブル。

理由は治安です。

事前に先生や岡本さん、みれいちゃんから「駅前の通りは危険」と聞いていました。薬物中毒者や売春が多いエリアがすぐ近くにあるからだそうです。

朝食は旅の中で一番美味しかったです。

スーツケースを持ちながら道を尋ねて、ツアー集合場所までたどり着きました。

ホテル外ではGoogle Mapを使わないという先生からの課題があったため、ドイツ語で「ここはどこ？」と尋ねながら進みました。

旧市庁舎「レーマー」を見学し、歴代皇帝52名の肖像画に圧倒されました。

個人的に法律の勉強もしているので、「正義の女神ユースティティア像」を見たときは感動しました。

ちなみにギリシャ神話ではテミス、ローマ神話ではユースティティアと呼ばれますが、意味は同じです。

「アイゼルナー・シュテグ（鉄の橋）」も歩きました。ここは永遠の愛を誓ってカップルが南京錠をかけることで有名です。

ツアー終了後、ベーカリーでクロワッサン、その後ケーキも食べてフランクフルト中央駅へ戻りました。

ドイツを訪れる際は、第二次世界大戦の歴史を一度しっかり学んでから行くべきだと感じました。

歴史博物館にはナチス時代の旗も展示されていました（撮影は禁止）。

June 8 (Day 8):Frankfurt City Walk → Airport

My last hotel, The Frankfurt, was a 4-star hotel, yet cost less than ¥20,000 per night.

Only a 2-minute walk from the central station, the location was excellent—but surprisingly affordable.

The reason? Safety.

My teacher, Okamoto-san, and Mirei-chan had all warned me that the street in front of the station was dangerous—apparently due to the nearby presence of drug users and prostitution.

Breakfast was the best of the entire trip.

Dragging my suitcase, I asked for directions and made it to the tour meeting point.

Since my teacher had assigned us to not use Google Maps outside, I asked in German, “Wo bin ich?” (“Where am I?”) as I made my way.

I visited the Römer (Old Town Hall) and was overwhelmed by the portraits of 52 emperors.

Since I also study law, I was especially moved by the statue of the Goddess of Justice, Justitia.

(In Greek mythology she is called Themis, and in Roman mythology, Justitia but the meaning is the same.)

I also walked across the Eiserner Steg (Iron Footbridge), famous for couples attaching padlocks as a pledge of eternal love.

After the tour ended, I had a croissant at a bakery, then some cake, and returned to Frankfurt Central Station.

When visiting Germany, I strongly felt that one should study World War II history thoroughly beforehand.

The history museum had flags from the Nazi era on display (photography was prohibited).

帰国まで

フランクフルト中央駅から空港までは電車で20分のはずが、実際には2時間もかかってしまいました。

ドイツ人も空港の行き方が分かっていない？

チケット購入に30分、やっと乗った電車は「離陸方向」に向かっていると気づき、途中で乗り換え。

ようやく飛行機に搭乗。最後の“interesting point”はアナウンスでした。

「シートベルトをお締めください」の音声は英語、モニターはドイツ語（JALなのに！）でした。

Until Return

Although it was supposed to take 20 minutes by train from Frankfurt Central Station to the airport, it actually took 2 hours.

Even Germans didn’t seem to know how to get to the airport.

Buying a ticket took 30 minutes, and the train I boarded was heading in the opposite direction, so I had to transfer midway.

Finally boarded the plane.

The last “interesting point” was the announcement:

The “Please fasten your seatbelt” audio was in English, but the monitor was in German even though it was a JAL flight!

まとめ

3カ国を巡り、日本の衛生状態・治安・物価の良さに改めて感謝しました。

トイレにお金を払う文化があるとは聞いていましたが、料金の割には汚いトイレも多くありました。

旅の三種の神器は、パスポート・クレジットカード（Visaタッチ）・携帯電話です。

どれか一つでも失えば、旅は終了です。

クレジットカードはJCBだけでは不十分でした。

Summary

After visiting three countries, I renewed my appreciation for Japan’s hygiene, safety, and reasonable prices.

I had heard about pay-to-use toilets, but many of them were dirty despite the fees.

The three travel essentials are:

Passport, credit card (Visa touch), and mobile phone.

Loose any one of them, and the trip is over.

Just having a JCB credit card wasn’t enough.
